When the Central Penn Midget Baseball program was started more than 50 years ago, it was viewed as an alternative to the more highly publicized Little League program out of Williamsport. But to Haps Boyer it was always much more than that.
Boyer got his start in coaching in the 1950's. He coached in the very first Central Penn Midget Baseball Tournament in 1953. Mr. Boyer passed away in early April, at the age of 85. He was a major influence to many junior baseball programs in the league and will be missed by many. |
